| Summary, etc | "High mobility group box-1 (HMGB1) is one of the Damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). HMGB1 plays plenty of role in both physiologic and pathophysiologic processes associated with its location, the receptor it binds to, and its redox form of its. Its functions are basically well known to have transcription factors, chemo-attractive effects, proinflammatory cytokine, neither chemokine nor cytokine effects, nor tissue repair function as well. This book provides an overview of the updated understanding of the dual role of HMGB1 in health and disease, such as cancer, myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury, epilepsy, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and neurodegenerative disease as well as hepatic steatosis and fatty liver disease been studied for years. That is why the modulation of HMGB1 might be a good candidate for the therapeutic of these diseases. Consequently, the present book comprises the role of HMGB1 in various pathologies and discusses its therapeutic potential in those pathologies"-- |
