Summary: "When schools across the world closed due to the pandemic, leading actors in learning-from K-12 through higher education, from corporate training programs to edtech investors-began developing new models to try and effect positive change during this transformative period in education, hoping to derive something good from incredibly trying circumstances. Going forward, we need solutions that combine the best of the old (skilled guidance and interaction) with the best of the new (connectivity-focused solutions from a broad range of partners, including schools and universities, educational technology companies, independent learning companies, and more) to end the worst elements of "Zoom University." This book combines such efforts into a total learning strategy. This overall strategy, derived from the authors' work at Columbia, is Digital Flex Learning. Rather than using the learning management system (LMS) passively-to store a syllabus, documents, and email-the LMS can offer all the tools for a complete, flexible course. Professors can "mix and match" their lessons and strategies to meet the unique needs of their students-as a group, but also individually. Education has no "one size fits all" method-this is a framework that professors can tailor with colleagues and students in order to teach and learn a wide range of subjects at all levels. This book will be useful not only to individual teachers, but to edtech companies and their investors who are looking to hone new strategies"-- Provided by publisherSummary: Built on interviews with more than fifty leading practitioners from major universities and ed-tech firms, Leveling the Learning Curve is an indispensable guide to the inner workings of digital education.
